SLEEPING DOGS
A crime thriller set in Pennsylvania, directed by Adam Cooper in
his directorial debut from a screenplay he adapted with Bill Collage.
Russell Crowe stars as Roy Freeman, an ex-homicide detective with a
fractured memory, forced to revisit a case he can't remember. The
challenge was to create a world for Roy, and to show how he coped with
losing his memory, what devices he employed when faced with the prospect
of forgetting everything. The aim was to create an environment of
confusion and disorientation. This, juxtaposed with flashbacks as his
memories returned, using a desaturated palette and contrasting
environments.
