DOWNRIVER
Downriver, produced by Happening Film’s Jannine Barnes, is the debut feature for director Grant Scicluna, about James, who has served time for the drowning of a little boy when he was a child although the body was never found. On his release, James searches for truth and redemption, uncovering a trail of sins and dark secrets as he tries to return of the body of the small boy to his grieving mother.
A mystery thriller shot in a rural setting, the river was a key element in the design, reinforced by water elements throughout. Along with the colours of the Australian bush it was the inspiration for the palette of the film.
