Penelope Southgate is a highly sought-after Production Designer, working across feature film and television.
Her career began when she joined the ABC design department in Melbourne after receiving a degree in Interior Design at RMIT. Whilst there she cut her teeth on a wide variety of programs, gaining knowledge and experience working on period miniseries, contemporary dramas, and variety and award shows as a production designer, art director, and set designer.
Her feature credits include Crackerjack (dir. Paul Moloney, Molloy Boy Productions, 2001), Lake Mungo (dir. Joel Anderson, Mungo Productions, 2006), Kath & Kimderella (dir. Ted Emery, RTP Films, 2011), and Now Add Honey (dir. Wayne Hope, Gristmill Productions, 2013). More recently she was the production designer for Seriously Red (dir. Gracie Otto, Dollhouse Pictures, Robyn Kershaw Productions, 2022), Woody Woodpecker 2 (dir. Jon Rosenbaum, Universal Pictures/ Netflix), and Sleeping Dogs (dir. Adam Cooper, Book of Mirrors Productions, 2023). Her last project was the US feature “ Ice Road 2:Road to the Sky” (dir. Jonathan Hensleigh, Code Entertainment) currently in post production
